In America, the mentality of “bigger is better” can be fun when speaking of vehicles, houses, bank accounts, T.V.’s, etc. But when taken too far, it becomes extremely unhealthy. Especially when this mentality translates over to the menu, and people look at the options and actually worry they will leave hungry. I have a friend who’s from Canada and playing hockey here. His family came to the states for the first time and we went out to eat at a chain restaurant. (Rhymes with Crapllebees) His mom asked for suggestions of what to get and she heard from some to try a burger. The meal came out and her jaw dropped! She asked if the meal was for the entire table of 6! We laughed it off but she was dead serious. It really hit me that too many people are consuming too much food with the misconception of it being normal. If they don’t finish their plate, they believe they are wasting money.  Think of the cost of obesity or being overweight with possible medications, surgeries, cost of all that food being consumed, doctor check-ups for weight-related problems, as well as the unfathomable price of the extra weight possibly decreasing your lifespan.  This is definitely no laughing matter.  I have seen the greatest amount of success with clients who put forth 110%  into training AND NUTRITION.
